ALL ABOUT THE RESEARCH STUDY
PREVALENCE OF
DRUG-RESISTANT BACTERIA
Once a bacterium is classified as antibiotic resistant it has the ability to defeat antibiotic and continue to develop despite of the presence of the drug. It is a threat to human’s health and hard to face.

BACTERIAL INFECTION
Bacterial infection is mostly caused by pathogenic bacteria, common diseases cause by pathogenic bacteria are food poisoning, gastritis meningitis and ulcers. Bacteria classified as gram negative is more resistant to antibiotic than gram positive bacteria since it has relatively large impermeable cell wall.
Bacteria plays a significant role in human’s existence. Bacterial activity benefits human in various ways, in food technology, bacteria are used to preserving foods through fermentation. In human survival, bacteria in human’s body enable the functioning of the systems, breaking down of nutrients and nonhazardous bacteria lessen the growth of human pathogenic bacteria. In the environment, bacteria intake nitrogen and release it for the use of plants in decomposition. As to the production of nitrogen, plants cannot do it themselves, therefore it relies to bacterial activity. Bacteria is also widely used in industrial and research field, discovering significant roles of bacteria in human’s life makes it easy to solve medical and industrial problems through microbiology.

ANTIBIOTICS
Antibiotics fight against bacterial infection by killing the bacteria or by slowing and suspending its growth, to avoid reproduction of bacteria, however it imposes harmful side effects caused by high chemical content, some bacteria possess extra circle of genetic material called plasmid. Plasmid contains genes which is advantageous than other bacteria, in this case bacteria are able to resist antibiotics.

Tibig (Ficus nota) also known as sacking tree, a native tree that can be found near water or in places with low altitude. Ripe Tibig is edible but tasteless it is usually eaten with sugar and its young leaves are eaten as vegetable. Tibig is a native tree in the Philippines that conserves water.
